Nice, France will host the high-level 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference from 9 to 13 June 2025, gathering global actors committed to supporting the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG 14): Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development.

Organised under the overarching theme “Accelerating action and mobilising all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean,” the Conference will be a key milestone in scaling up urgent and collective efforts to protect our blue planet.

Co-hosted by France and Costa Rica, the event will unite voices from a wide range of stakeholders, including:

  • Governments and the UN system
  • International organisations and financial institutions
  • NGOs, academia, the private sector
  • Indigenous Peoples, local communities, and other stakeholders

Together, they will assess ongoing actions, share insights, and forge new partnerships aimed at delivering meaningful ocean impact. Building on momentum from the previous UN Ocean Conferences, hosted by Sweden and Fiji in 2017 in New York and by Portugal and Kenya in 2022 in Lisbon, the 2025 gathering will push forward the global ocean agenda.
