My name is Agnese and I’m 29 years old, people and sea lover!I would love to become a Young Ocean Advocate, as young woman committed to seeking real change both from below (kids, citizens) and from above (decision-makers, academia). I am a marine biologist and a diver, specializing in Ocean Literacy and people engagement on ocean-related issues through Informal and Non-formal Education. I believe it would be useful to change the teaching system and program from the very first years, to finally create over time a Europe (and globe) made up of youngs who strongly believe the tight connection we have with natural environment and would have no restraints about changing their habits due to respect the planet and demand concrete actions from political decision makers. I obtained my master’s degree in Marine Biology and Ecology at Polytechnic University of Marche in ‘19 and I’ve started my PhD course on ‘21. I’m having the exciting opportunity to work in such interesting framework like the UN Agenda 2030 and the EU Missions. My PhD is focused on the Ocean Literacy assessment and Biodiversity valorization; the project, aims to define communication and engagement strategies due to increase a societal awareness and commitment in conservation measures and a pro-environmental behavior. As volunteer, I collaborate with Reef Check Italia Onlus in developing some educational projects mostly concerning ocean protection and conservation. We carry out Citizen Science projects about beaches monitoring, vulnerable species, climate change and marine litter, involving schools and citizens.
