EU4Algae Launches Social Media Campaign to Engage Consumers: Share Your Algae Dish!

In a bid to promote awareness of algae to consumers, EU4Algae unveils its latest initiative: an engaging Social Media campaign aimed directly at consumers on DG MARE and CINEA’s platforms.

Part of a journey to revolutionise the perception of algae as a food source, this Social Media campaign invites viewers/consumers to get creative in the kitchen and share their culinary creations featuring this nutritious superfood.

Be part of the movement

Taking place throughout May on Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE) and European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency’s (CINEA) social media platforms, this initiative seeks to engage and inspire food enthusiasts. By inviting participants to prepare and showcase their favourite dishes incorporating algae on their own social media accounts and using #EU4Algae, we hope to spark a wave of culinary experimentation and exploration. Whether it's a savoury seaweed salad, a spirulina smoothie, or a nori-wrapped sushi roll, every dish shared contributes to the movement towards sustainable eating practices.

Expect to see posts on DG MARE and CINEA’s respective social media accounts that spotlight the benefits and versatility of algae as a culinary ingredient, and even a recipe suggestion to further foster a sense of community and shared purpose.

This campaign was filmed in collaboration with David Jesus, owner and chef of Seiva, and Nuno Castro, owner and chef of Fava Tonka, both in Leça da Palmeira, Portugal.

Join us in this culinary adventure!

Whether you're a seasoned chef or an amateur enthusiast, let your creativity flourish, your taste buds rejoice, and your social media feeds come alive with the vibrant colours and flavours of algae-infused dishes.

Together, let's make May a month to remember as we celebrate the wonders of algae and embark on a journey towards a more sustainable future, one delicious dish at a time.
