The ASOCIACIÓN AMICOS is a non-profit association that works for and with people with intellectual disabilities and their families, since 2000, from Boiro (NW Spain). We have been developing local and regional projects to foster social inclusion of people with special needs of support, by training them, and supporting them, in becoming environmental activists in our community. We are located in the Atlantic basin, and close to seashore, we have been working to raise awareness on the importance of preserving our natural heritage for future generations. Their teams have involved thousands of scholars and other social groups, including professionals (fishermen) through marine litter picking events all over our sea shore, games to increase ocean literacy on our community, and valorisation of litter to increase skills and literacy on residues generation, origin, and clasification
