MediTocado is an artistic and educational project that combines creativity with environmental awareness by creating headdresses from marine waste. Inspired by Dulk’s work, it focuses on endangered Mediterranean marine species and the impact of pollution.
Students from vocational training programs in makeup, characterization, and hairstyling design headdresses, makeup, and hairstyles using materials collected during a beach cleanup in collaboration with the Oceanogràfic Foundation.
Is developed in three phases: environmental awareness and research, artistic creation in the classroom, and a final presentation with a professional photoshoot. Overall, it promotes teamwork, creativity, and critical reflection on the relationship between humans and the sea.
The main objective is to create an artistic headdress from recycled marine waste, inspired by endangered Mediterranean species, and integrate it with matching makeup and hairstyle.
Students explore marine biodiversity, research endangered species, participate in a beach cleanup, and reuse collected materials creatively. The project concludes with a final artistic presentation and reflection on marine pollution.
The project takes place over four months and combines field activities, practical work, and artistic creation. It begins with a visit to the Oceanogràfic of Valencia, where students learn about marine pollution, types of waste, and conservation efforts. This is followed by a beach cleanup in El Saler, where they apply this knowledge using official collection methods.
During December and January, students carry out the creative phase at school, designing and producing makeup, headdresses, and hairstyles in collaboration between different vocational programs.
The project concludes in February with a final presentation and professional photoshoot at IES El Cabañal, showcasing the completed artistic work and promoting environmental awareness.
The project includes research and awareness on endangered species and pollution, environmental action through cleanup, creative design using recycled materials, final presentation with photos, and reflection with dissemination of results in cultural and educational spaces.
