reBLUE 4.0 aims to continue reducing plastic waste in the seaside, educating students and families about the importance of sustainable habits and encouraging circular economy in the school and in the beach.
For a fourth year in row, the students will create wooden boxes that will be distributed in two new beaches to be used to collect beach toys, that can be reused by tourists.
They will promote and try to implement a policy of bring your own at the school, BYO water bottle, mug, food containers in order to reduce waste in school.
Seasonal awareness workshops, such as, sustainable wrapping, decoration, gardening.
They will also create digital educational material (kahoot) to raise awareness about their project and will share it with their fellow students.
Regarding the approach:
Project-Based Learning: Engage students in hands-on projects that apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Incorporate Technology: Utilize technology in the curriculum to enhance learning experiences, encourage collaboration, and prepare students for future workforce challenges.
Promote Sustainability: Introduce recycling programs, circular economy initiatives, and eco-friendly practices to instill a sense of responsibility and sustainability within the school community.
Social and Emotional Learning: Focus on nurturing students' social and emotional well-being through programs that develop empathy, self-awareness, and interpersonal skills.
Teacher Collaboration: Encourage teacher collaboration and professional development to drive school transformation and ensure effective teaching methodologies. Several departments are involved in the project: Sciences, Art, Space Center.
Raise Awareness about SDGs mainly: 4, 12, 14, 16.
These strategies not only promote environmental sustainability but also contribute to the overall educational goals of the school. By integrating these methodologies into environmental projects, schools can create a culture of sustainability that extends beyond the classroom.
