The European Fisheries Areas' Network (FARNET) brings together all stakeholders involved in the implementation of community-led local development (CLLD) financed from the EMFF and implemented in over 300 fisheries and aquaculture communities in 19 EU Member States. Under fisheries CLLD, local actors get together to find solutions to challenges facing their area, safeguarding small-scale coastal fisheries, developing short food chains, finding alternative sources of income, preserving biodiversity, combating marine pollution, or addressing climate change. The FARNET Support Unit is a service unit contracted by DG MARE to run the network. We provide capacity building and support to Fisheries Local Action Groups (FLAGs), Managing Authorities (MAs) as well as DG MARE.
