Blue Steps is a short-term preschool project that connects young children and their families to the importance of clean water and ocean-friendly living. Conducted at Oktay Mersin Special Education Kindergarten in Denizli, Türkiye, the project encourages students aged 3–5 to understand how every drop matters for both people and nature.
Children conducted simple water experiments — filtering water with sand and cotton, creating “mini water cycles” in jars, and observing pollution effects with safe colored liquids. Families joined Plastic-Free Homes and Water Guardians workshops to design eco-friendly tools and reusable materials.
A “Blue Corner” was created in the school where students displayed their drawings, photos, and recycled art about clean seas and sustainable living. Local partners Denizli Municipality and DESKİ Water Authority supported the project through visits and awareness talks.
Through storytelling, art, and guided discovery, children became small “Blue Ambassadors,” spreading clean water messages to their families and community.
