The Tempest of the Oceans is a free adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, where we reclaim the island as a metaphor for a collapsed planet.
Prospero becomes an absurd, tragic, and comic figure who symbolizes humanity overwhelmed by its thirst for power and control. Miranda and Caliban, the other two protagonists, embody innocence, resistance, and the longing for change
In a forgotten corner of a collapsed ocean, three beings inhabit a fragile island: Prospero, a clown obsessed with control; Miranda, a voice that sings the memories of the sea; and Caliban, a rebellious body fighting to restore lost balance.
The Tempest of the Oceans delves into this symbolic microcosm to speak, in a universal language of gesture, rhythm, and visual poetry, about the broken relationship between humanity and the blue planet.
The performance blends physical theatre, clowning, and live music with a scenography rich in symbolic meaning. Based on a free-form dramaturgy, we build an innovative stage proposal with a transformative vocation and an aesthetic sensitivity that aligns with the major sustainability principles of the 21st century.
In collaboration with various environmental organisations, the project goes beyond the stage by incorporating scientific outreach, environmental awareness, and community participation. The Tempest of the Oceans aims to be both a tool for consciousness and a catalyst for hope.
