2.VALOR project
Environment Department, Liguria Region
The Valor project - Valorization of the reuse and treatment of waste electrical and electronic equipment - is a project co-financed by the Italy-France-Maritime Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2021-2027. Its objective is to promote the transition to a circular and resource-efficient economy through the development of an innovative cross-border circular economy model for the creation of a circular value chain for WEEE, and in particular for critical raw materials and other recoverable materials such as secondary raw materials, contained in electrical and electronic waste (WEEE/DEEE), which capitalizes on the most current technologies, particularly information technology and artificial intelligence. The project contributes to ob.1 and 2 of the HE Mission Ocean and Waters for teh following:
- Effective WEEE management prevents environmental contamination that can spread to soil and marine and river waters, contributing to the Mission's commitments against pollution and promoting the protection of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.
- By implementing the recycling of critical raw materials, VALOR contributes to building a more resilient blue economy that is independent of foreign resources, in line with the carbon-neutral and circular approach promoted by the Mission.
