Objectives:
Learn about fluvial and marine ecosystems.
Identify the indicator species related to the rivers ecological health
Develop critical thinking regarding human impact on the environment.
View the Mediterranean as a cultural bridge
Activities:
1. First approach, 1st ESO: Excursion to a beach in the Costa Brava to discover the coastal ecosystem (2022-2025)
2.a. Research, 3rd ESO, Participation in the Plàstic Pirates Projects (2022-2023-2025)
b.Project ”Our sea”: Elaboration of an exhibition focused on the Mediterranean. (2023-2024-2025)
c.Project “Carles Rahola; a time, a landscape” on the evolution of the Costa Brava from 1900 to our days. (2023-2024)
3.1st of Batxillerat: Participation two times per year in the “Projecte Rius” (2019-2025), based on the assessment of the biodiversity and quality of the fluvial environment
Approach
The two projects of citizen science (2a,3) follow a given methodology provided by the organization, so we will focus on explaining the activities we develop in 3rd:

Final product: Posters for an exhibition
Tasks:
Elaboration of a poster and supports, about different aspects related to the Mediterranean.
Organization of the exhibition in the community hall and the neighbourhood primary schools.
Development:
Each topic is discussed by two different groups that will work together in a common poster.
-“Carles Rahola: a time, a landscape” is a transversal project on the life and work of a journalist and politician who wrote the first guide on the Costa Brava. Our high school is named after him.

Final product: Debate on the topic “Is it urgent to protect the whole Costa Brava?“
Activities:
Look for old pictures of l’Escala and interview different people
Foot orienteering based on botany.
Advertise the debate.
Development: The students work to prepare the final debate, where each group will represent a different lobby.
