Despite the fact that our educational center is located right by the sea, we have identified a lack of knowledge about the natural, ecological, and cultural richness of the Mediterranean Sea. The objectives of the project are:

To integrate the marine environment into the school context, as part of the school's educational project.

To ensure that all students participate in activities related to the sea, promoting meaningful, cross-curricular learning rooted in the local territory.

The activities have involved all educational stages:

Preschool and Primary: A marine-themed Carnival. Each class studied a marine species over several sessions, created educational materials, a costume, and a Carnival float with a message advocating for the sea (in collaboration with families).

4th Grade of Primary: Participation in the LIFE Ecorest project to learn about the restoration of deep-sea habitats. Teacher training, a workshop with female scientists, and a visit to the fishermen’s guild in Arenys de Mar.

6th Grade of Primary: Design of a model of the Mediterranean seabed as an interdisciplinary project.

Secondary: Participation in the citizen science project "Microplastics Watchers", analyzing the presence of microplastics on the beach and comparing the data with that of the University of Barcelona and the Premià Rowing Club. In the Robotics subject, students designed and 3D-printed the sampling tools.

1st and 2nd year of ESO: Creation of technological projects to address environmental problems, such as robotic plants or mechanisms to support sea turtle nesting.

Secondary: Launching a project with the Maremar Institute and ICM-CSIC to study toxic algae (Ostreopsis) in our municipality. Talks by ICM researchers and meetups with the other school to plan joint sampling sessions.

The last week of May, the entire school takes part in the "Let's Clean Up Europe" project, which focuses primarily on the beaches.
