Organic feed sources for carnivorous fish species

Short description of the action

The aim of the project is to develop a sustainable and organic feed for carnivorous fish species that completely avoids the use of fish meal and soy protein. Organic protein feed is mandatory according to Regulation (EU) No. 2018/848. Through innovative processing and the use of proteins from organically grown rapeseed, combined with processed non-ruminant animal protein, these sustainable alternatives will replace fish meal and soy protein. The focus is on the amino acid profile, which has to be optimally adapted to the needs of the fish both by adjusting the ratio of the two storage proteins albumin and globulin contained in rapeseed and by using processed non-ruminant animal protein.
