Sustainable utilization and protection of sea bio resources

The overall vision of Kerteminde havneudviklingsforening is to contribute to develop and realize an ACTIVE, ATTRACTIVE and FULLY UTILIZED Kerteminde port environment.

The purpose of the Kerteminde havneudviklingsforening is to coordinate and contribute to the collaboration, innovation, demonstration, knowledge sharing, development and scaling of sustainable growing, harvesting and fishing of bio resources in a way that contributes to protecting and restoring of local marine ecosystems and biodiversity.

The municipality of Kerteminde has for several years supported a strategy for local sustainable food production on land. This strategy will be expanded to include local sustainable food production in the sea, making it possible to demonstrate to potential for a broad range of local produced sustainable food for seasonal dishes.

Specific objectives and targets for the project include:
2025:
 Use driven strategy process with all members, users and stakeholders in collaboration with, and facilitated by, a professional advisor
 EU Ocean Mission Technical Assistance project
 Establish a collaboration with 5-10 similar fishing port environments in Denmark with same interests, aims and challenges
 A strategy report with background, aims and recommendations for development of Kerteminde port environment to all involved and interested parties, including Municipality of Kerteminde, based on the above-described activities

2026 and beyond:
 The realization of an acknowledged blue hub and environment in Kerteminde with the focus on scaling the utilization and protection of local sustainable sea bio resources
 Annually 2 recurring events with local produced sustainable sea bio resources together with local sustainable land produced food (“Kerteminde garden and sea”)
 Shared port environment facilities that support and strengthen innovation, knowledge sharing, development, test and production of local sustainable sea bio resources and –services
 Further develop and strengthen a national network of fishing port and local sea environments with similar vision, goals and interests
 Participate in developing projects, consortia and attract funding to expand the activities supporting the overall vision and purpose of Kerteminde havneudviklingsforening
