Project LIFE DICCA - Danube Island Climate Change Adaptation

Short description of the action

The EU co-financed project LIFE DICCA (Danube Island Climate Change Adaptation), coordinated by the City of Vienna, Water Management has been completed in autumn 2024.
The main aim of LIFE DICCA was to increase the climate change resilience of ecosystems on the Danube Island. To this end, a large number of projects and measures - such as environmentally friendly sheep grazing, the creation of wind turbine-operated pond biotopes, the establishment of new habitats for endangered species, sediment management measures or the implementation of citizen science projects for environmental education - have been developed and implemented over the past six years.
