Monitoring of Existing Actions along the Salzach River

Short description of the action

The monitoring focuses on restoration efforts of the Lower Salzach Floodplains in Austria and Germany. Key restoration actions included reconnecting side channels, removing embankments, and lowering floodplain areas. These measures were implemented from 2002 to 2021. The monitoring will use various methods, such as remote sensing and citizen science, to track nutrient retention, carbon sequestration, flood regulation, sediment regulation, habitat provision, and socio-economic impacts.
