Breakwaters (ger. Wellenbrecher) is the main project of the ECOP Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH) node. Beginning in the first week of January, the DACH team will launch an interview series of deep and thoughtful conversations with role models in German-speaking countries to answer questions pertaining to the UN Ocean Decade and its legacy phase. The interviews will be published on audio (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) and video (YouTube) platforms. Additionally, interview partners will be asked to return for a monthly online community meeting where listeners can ask questions that they might have in response to the recorded content. In a second phase, Breakwater is also planned to take place as a live event with panel discussions at schools, universities, and community centers in the future. This is a passion project of our team, and we hope that this is a vessel to reignite conversations with local community members and politicians in German-speaking countries as we move into the second part of the UN Ocean Decade.
