Foundation in Action

The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation contributes to the Mission Restore our Oceans and Waters through
- its initiatives (e.g. Monk Sea Initiative, Pelagos Initiative, Polar Initiative, Donors’ Initiative for Mediterranean Freshwater Ecosystems) and the projects and symposia therein;
- funding projects relating to the conservation and restoration of marine and freshwater ecosystems and species (annual open call for projects);
- advancing innovative financial solutions toward a blue, regenerative economy (Blue Solutions Hub, including the ReOcean private equity fund and the Ocean Innovators Platform)
- financing further education for young people from the Global South;
- supporting the growth of future young leaders (Re.Generation Initiative);
- raising awareness of ocean issues and nature-based solutions through the production of film, media communications and organization of events (e.g. Monaco Ocean Week, The Green Shift Festival)
- facilitating dialogue with philanthropic organizations (e.g. co-host with UNESCO of the 3rd Foundations Dialogue) and multi-stakeholder groups (e.g. Blue Economy Finance Forum, June 2025)
- founding of partnerships that catalyze and support resource mobilization and networking to accomplish the vision of the UN Ocean Decade
(e.g. founding member of the Ocean Decade Alliance; 60.8 million committed to support Mediterranean countries to deliver on the 30 by 30 target)
