#adopteunpad : Commit to our seas and oceans

The introduction of anti-litter baskets and nets via the #adopteunpad concept is a direct response to a crucial societal need: the protection of seas and oceans from litter pollution. This initiative, supported by the Herocean association, aims to tackle a major environmental problem with far-reaching repercussions on marine biodiversity, human health and local economies.

Herocean's project to set up anti-litter baskets and nets aims to respond to urgent environmental issues linked to marine pollution. The specific objectives of this project are as follows:

1) Reduce pollution of marine environments by intercepting waste upstream (e.g.: over 30 billion cigarette butts are left on the ground in France every year, the majority of which end up directly in stormwater drains that flow into the sea).
2) Protect marine biodiversity by reducing the amount of plastic waste that harms natural habitats and marine species.
3) Engage citizens and promote eco-friendly behavior through awareness-raising workshops (transparent columns are available, providing a clear view of the number of cigarette butts and other waste collected).
4) Highlight the eco-heroes and heroines who take action ( We honor the commitment of each contributor by dedicating a nameplate to each basket installed. In this way, their support becomes visible and tangible, in recognition of their essential contribution to this cause. We also highlight the commitment of beneficiaries who have made the virtuous choice to adopt these anti-waste devices. Their willingness to act for the environment is applauded and highlighted, demonstrating their social and environmental responsibility).
