Investigating the personal existing links between us - school and the sea-ocean could be the introduction activity.
Noticing art works (Bansky), reading literature and science articles and studying the European Atlas of the Seas could help us to describe the most common types of litter all over the world and get informed.
A visit to the closest sea beach but also to the riverside is the perfect experiential action to locate the problem in our area.
Field researching (micro and macro pollution, water quality), litter collecting, separating them in to containers, collecting some of them and transforming to art could be an active way to realize and show the problem to our school community.
Experiments with simple material and Use of microscopes and measurements empower young to feel active.
Interactive online activities and co-operation with another school of the coastal area in North Greece could engage our students and help them to feel more enthusiastic to participate.
Visiting an environmental center or University could give us the data to create an excel with measurements.
Looking the specific geographical, ecological context (how we depend on Aegean sea / food, professional activities-tourism & fishing, communication to greek islands, leisure and sea activities-swimming) could help us to gain knowledge of life.
Possible partners in this project can be the local municipality, a fish man, the coast guard, helmepa junior, the gopa free (cigarette butts free) organization and a university team of marine educators from the department of Primary Education, Democritus University of Thrace.
Our students could make an art exhibition in school and parallel organize a maritime week with radio broadcast, digital art gallery with their artworks and digital book with their findings from field study, poems and songs ppt, donating plant growing to coastal areas.
