I'm Marika Makharadze, with a background in marine biology, aquaculture, environmental protection, and education. I hold a master's degree in marine biology and hydrobiology from Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University in Georgia. Currently, I am a member of the Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Aquatic Biodiversity within the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia. This includes leading ichthyological research and stock assessments, as well as actively contributing to the conservation of marine resources. I am deeply involved in projects that promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices beyond my official duties. Through initiatives like the Black Sea Young Ambassador Bridge Program, I'm nurturing the next generation of environmental stewards. Moreover, I'm passionate about promoting ocean literacy in schools. I organize online courses for Georgian teachers, supported by International Ocean Institutes, with a vision to increase the frequency of these courses from twice to four times a year. Additionally, I aspire to organize workshops for students, seeking financial support to expand this educational endeavor. My mission is to leave a lasting impact locally and globally by bridging scientific expertise with effective teaching methodologies to inspire environmental stewardship among students and educators alike.
