Mélinda Martins has always felt a deep connection to the ocean, shaped by her Portuguese roots and childhood summers by the sea. This passion led her to earn a boat license and become a certified skipper. She later studied at the Oceanographic and Hydrographic Institute of the French Navy (SHOM) to train as a hydrographer, diving deeper into ocean science.

Now an early-career oceanographer, Mélinda focuses on the relationship between the ocean and climate, exploring how they influence each other over time. She’s dedicated to protecting marine ecosystems and believes in their vital role for our planet's health.

When she’s not working, you’ll find Mélinda snorkeling or sailing, where she feels most at home. This love for the ocean drives her mission to raise awareness and inspire others to safeguard our waters for future generations.
