I have been interested in ocean conservation since my childhood. So in recent years, I have devoted myself to gaining academic, professional and voluntary experiences in the maritime sphere, especially as regards to marine pollution. These experiences emphasised the importance of societal cooperation at and between different policy levels in addressing maritime challenges. Until recently I was part of the European Citizen Initiative, Return The Plastics, where we advocated for an EU-wide deposit-system to recycle plastic bottles. I therefore, want to look for opportunities to advocate for such a system, as I firmly believe that this would decrease plastics pollution for the benefit of marine conservation and the environment in general. Next to that I am an avid diver.
