I am a marine biologist and science communicator. Fascinated with nature from a young age, I learnt to scuba dive at just 10 years old and have always been obsessed with the ocean. I want to bring the ocean to the public and spread awareness about why we need to protect our blue planet. I run non-profit organisation The Marine Diaries, leading a team of over 30 volunteers whilst also working full time. I coordinated a ‘Plastic Not Fantastic’ campaign after learning about the devastating impacts of plastic on marine life. This successfully educated the public and provided solutions to reducing plastic consumption. Currently, I am working on our ‘Marine Ecosystem Diaries’ project, creating free educational materials surrounding different marine ecosystems. These can be used by the public, schools, and conservation organisations.Having a broad background in ocean science, I have worked in various roles within the environmental and communication sector since graduating from my masters degree. I also worked with sea turtle protection in Greece, on scientific literature for COP22, and researched the effect of microplastics on marine life. I enjoy public speaking and have spoken at numerous conferences and online events, and to school children. More recently I have been sharing my ocean knowledge through my ‘Ocean Conservation’ Club on Clubhouse - the audio-only app.BSc Biological Sciences, University of Durham - 1st classMSc Tropical Marine Biology, University of Essex - Distinction
