Growing up with sailing I was always fascinated by the water and the life it harbours. Curious as I am, I went snorkelling to get to know the life underwater. When I learnt diving, a whole new world opened up to me. Finally I could explore the underwater world with the time it deserved. During my studies in Biodiversity and Ecology I gained a deeper understanding of marine and limnic ecoystems, our dependence on them and their vulnerability. After finishing my masters degree I turned my dream of mine into reality and explored the Baltic Sea, sailing around it on my own. Now I am investigating the microbiome seagrass seeds for my PhD and look at whether it could facilitate restoration efforts of seagrass meadows.Apart from that I am enthusiastic to share my knowledge. As a sailing teacher I have enabled children and students to discover travelling on the water with the help of the wind. During the past few years it became more and more important to me to fascinate people about their local underwater world. I am convinced that this will lead to more people caring about our seas and oceans.
