I am a 26 years old French young ocean passionate. The UN Decade for Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and the EU Young Ocean Advocates initiatives have made me realise that it was more than time to get involved and act for the Ocean’s protection. However, I have been interested in maritime topics since I was very young. As a child I was lucky to be exposed early on to sailing and scuba-diving which inevitably lead me later to study the seas and oceans. Following the obtention of a MSc in Fisheries and Marine Ecosystems Management, I furthered my studies with a MSc in Environmental Policy, trying to bridge the gap between social and biological sciences. At university I met people passionate about the Ocean who became friends and are now partners for this project. Our personal choices have led us to different jobs, meaning that each of us have developed diverse skills that will be useful for this project. As a student I engaged in NGOs and worked as a sailing instructor.Through my early career I worked in the Pacific for a UN-backed international fisheries management organisation (SPRFMO) and in research in French Polynesia. Later on, coming back to Europe I worked with environmental NGOs and the fishing industry in the stakeholder-led Pelagic Advisory Council and for the European Association of Fish Producers Organisations in Brussels. I would like now to contribute to ocean literacy and education, but also to continue raising awareness to the difficulties faced by the Ocean, in particular linked to climate change.
