- Description
I got the inspiration for my project from the Norwegian documentary "Nordfor sola" (North of the Sun) combining surfing, sustainability, education and sea protection. My project would encompass a surfing camping trip to the Danish coastal city of Thyboron as well as workshops, lectures, and debate panels focusing on the themes of marine pollution, conservation, protection and innovation, climate change, ocean governance, and marine biology and biodiversity. The trip would aim to be as sustainable and ecological as possible - using public transportation, trash picking in the area, vegan food, camping in the wild, and supporting the local community. The city was specifically chosen thanks to its location as a suitable surfing spot and the Sea War Museum could serve as a venue for the workshops, etc. Moreover, it is an area with the occurrence of sea lions and other marine animals. There could also be a fundraiser organized for the local community and caretakers of the animals as a part of the project. Its purpose is to educate and engage individuals to direct action as well as instruct a marine sport (sport) to the public and boost the tourism of the area. The target audience would be everyone but mostly Danish citizens.
