Blueat project opens up new scenarios on the management and use of Alien Species which, due to the transformation of the marine environment, are and will be increasingly present in the Mediterranean. Blueat is created by 5 young women and we have been working on this project for Summer 2021 and since now we’ve created connections and contacts with our partner and stakeholders, such as the fishermen and cooperatives, the Local authorities, the Italian Ministry and the Universities and we need at least 3 years.project protocol which will certify its environmental and socio-economic sustainability. Our aims:1.Enhance and convert small-scale fishing and traditional fishing into sustainable fishing:Collaborating with fishermen and their local cooperatives for the sustainable capture of alien species.Experimenting with new target fishing equipment and methods.2.Implement food consumption and cooking of alien species to make it an Italian agri-food product.Promoting them in markets, restaurants and the Horeca sector.Organizing fairs, events, congresses, show-cooking.3.Shifting the focus of fish market demand from traditional target species to alien species.Helping to create an innovative supply chain and / or micro-supply chains of the alien resource that can be replicated in every coastal area of the country.
