- Description
The expedition UNDER THE POLE IV DEEPLIFE is about to leave for a 10 years journey to observe, learn and help understand marine animal forests which are very special and essential ecosystems. Recognized as an official project of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, the project aims at exploring these ecosystems of the mesophotic zone (-30 to -200 meters) which remains largely unstudied, unknown, ununderstood. Thanks to innovative diving techniques (closed-loop), our divers are going to help the scientific world understand some ununderstood complex phenomenon. UNDER THE POLE has a global program management approach (definition, organization, means, promotion) within its long missions. The ambitious scientific collaboration with internationally renowned scientific institutes aims to carry out innovative and promising studies for the mankind, planet and oceans. The first stop of the expedition will be in Svalbard, an Arctic Archipelago. Our divers will dive there, in freezing water, with the hope of bringing new observations and keys of ocean-comprehension to the surface. As an awareness-raising project officer, my role will be to follow this expedition from very close, and retranscript everything that is done so that it is understandable by the public.
