The project aims to start a discussion between Polish cities on the future scenarios for the Baltic Sea under climate change, and their connectedness to the sea, increasing ocean literacy. It will consist of series of panel discussions between mayors, administrative representatives of major Polish cities, youth and NGOs. To ensure an exchange of good practices, emphasizing the connectedness of the sea through the rivers, in each debate we will involve representatives of two different cities – one located near the Baltic Sea and the other one situated in central or southern parts of Poland. Each discussion will end with a list of recommendations, describing how cities can adapt and mitigate its impact on the Baltic Sea and climate change. The debates will be published during the summer holiday season, starting from May until September. If successful, the debates will be reviewed one year later, to see whether the recommendations were put in place. It is mainly directed to the local councils and administration institutions, with an involvement of youth in creating recommendations for future activities, however general public will benefit from the discussion part, increasing its overall ocean literacy. The project will be communicated and promoted through the “Pod poziomem morza” Instagram account (in the future also Facebook account), currently followed by many successful educators. It will also be submitted as a panel proposal at WUF11 and the European Economic Congress.
