Description
€45 million dedicated to multidisciplinary research projects to promote the development of thriving maritime activities while preserving our seas and oceans
The European Commission is organising an INFODAY on the call for proposals "The ocean of tomorrow 2011" on 9th September in Brussels, Belgium.
This event will be jointly opened by Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science and Maria Damanaki, Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. European Commission services will address the rationale of the call, its modalities for implementation and details of the four individual call topics. A brokerage session will allow participants to give flash presentations about their project ideas and look for partners to set-up or join a consortium.
Up to €45 million will be allocated to large multidisciplinary research projects involving scientists and stakeholders from EU and partner countries. It is a concrete example of the cross-thematic approach recommended by the "European Strategy for Marine and Maritime Research" (COM (2008) 534) adopted in September 2008. This second cross-thematic initiative is focusing on innovative and forward-looking approaches but also bears a partly regional approach on the Mediterranean and Black Sea.
