Join Youth4Ocean Forum Activities at the European Youth Week Kick-Off Event

The European Youth Week kick-off event is the flagship event of the European Youth Week. With its main theme being “Voice your vision - democracy in action”, this event will take place in the European Parliament on 12 April 2024. Kicked off with a high-level opening session, this event will host 33 breakout sessions organised by EU Institutions, Directorate-Generals, and youth stakeholders. Each session will actively engage participants in discussions around youth priority topics, as emerged from the European Year of Youth in 2022.

Youth4Ocean Session

With the goal of bringing youth-led conversations under the priority topic of “Environment and Climate” forward, the Youth4Ocean Forum and its Young Ocean Advocates will be involved in an exciting breakout session during the European Youth Week kick-off event!

The session "Beating the plastic wave: stories of youth action and empowerment from European seas and coastlines", co-organised by DG MARE and the Youth4Ocean Forum, aims at showcasing examples of successful youth actions against marine litter, illustrating the #EUBeachCleanup campaign by DG MARE, while also highlighting ocean literacy as part of the solution.

The session will feature:

• Inspiring presentations about Young Ocean Advocate projects;
• Group discussions on potential solutions and youth-led initiatives to counter marine litter;
• A quiz testing the audience’s knowledge about marine litter and sustainable habits.

Hosted by DG MARE, participants of the European Youth Week kick-off event will be able to find out more about the EU4Ocean Coalition and get a chance to discover educational tools and digital games via the EU Atlas of the Seas at the dedicated Stand in the event’s Marketplace.
