How to achieve a better governance for the sea basin in the Western Mediterranean?

The aim of the Lab’’ is to assess the feasibility of a maritime strategy for the Western Mediterranean and a possible action plan.

For this reason a focus group with experts will be organised to explore the governance issues related to the maritime affairs in this region. Given the identified need to strengthen coordination and cooperation in the area and to explore the added value and feasibility of a maritime appropriate strategy at sub-sea basin level, the focus group will discuss existing cooperation arrangements and future possible scenarios to achieve a more efficient governance in support of such a maritime strategy. This will also further build on currently existing multilateral processes, such as the 5+5 dialogue.

A first round of exchanges with institutions and existing cooperation bodies which are active in the area will therefore be organised in Barcelona on March 15, 2016.

The objective is to gather about 15-20 participants to discuss, exchange ideas and come up with concrete proposals and recommendations.
