The EMODnet Open Conference 2023 will convene representatives from the European Commission, EMODnet partners, and other key actors in the European and global marine data community. The event is designed to showcase EMODnet's latest services and foster discussions about ongoing and future directions for EMODnet’s evolution.
As a flagship EMODnet event, the Open Conference 2023 programme includes > 50 speakers discussing diverse topics such as EMODnet's role as a unified EC marine data service, the key role of EMODnet working in partnership with the Copernicus Marine Service to deliverthe European Digital Twin Ocean (DTO), EMODnet’s collaboration with the Ocean Observation community and diverse data provision to EMODnet, EMODnet’s value for supporting EU Policy implementation, Blue Economy operations, citizen science engagement, and contribution to global ocean data initiatives. The conference will be inaugurated with an opening address by Charlina Vitcheva (EC DG MARE) and concluded with remarks by Delilah al Khudairy (EC DG MARE). Other contributions from various EC Directorates-General and services include from DG RTD, DG DEFIS, DG ENV, JRC, EEA, and others.
The Conference Closing Session on 30th November afternoon will launch an EMODnet Call to Action, which calls upon the EMODnet network and broader community to collaborate on the EC marine data service evolution, service provision and sustainability
The Open Conference has already attracted 340 registered participants, and registration is now capped. Any last-minute requests for in-person attendance should be sent to contact
emodnetconference2023 [dot] eu (contact[at]emodnetconference2023[dot]eu) noting the name and affiliation of the person requesting entry. For those unable to attend in person, the conference will be accessible through live web-streaming of the Plenary sessions.
