Second Progress Report
MARIS has updated several sections of the EMODNET Hydrography portal at http://www.emodnet-hydrography.eu to reflect the recent extension of the EMODNET Hydrography project with the EMODNET Seabed Mapping project and the establishment of associate partners. Also a number of news items have been added.
First Progress Report
The extra EMODNET Seabed Mapping contract started in June 2010 and has 2 major tasks.
Task 1 includes extending the initial geographical coverage with 3 additional maritime regions:
- Iberian Coast and Bay of Biscay (Atlantic Ocean)
- Adriatic Sea (Mediterranean)
- Aegean - Levantine Sea (Mediterranean)
Moreover the EMODNET Seabed Mapping contract features an extra Task 2 to lay the foundations for a future higher resolution mapping of seabeds in the maritime basins of Europe.
Task 2 will be achieved by i) compiling a concise overview of multibeam and single beam surveys for Europe’s maritime basins and by ii) incorporating in the Hydrography portal an initial multibeam metadata directory and a number of publicly available sample multibeam data sets, that can be viewed in high resolution and downloaded without restrictions.
