Progress Reports for ur-EMODNET biological lot

Seventh Seport

At the moment the portal is in its testing phase. Internal tests were made and comments that were given during the biological data products workshop and during the presentation at the Copenhagen meeting were listed and will be analysed for implementation in the update phase.

A feedback-option has been provided on the website. Several people are contacted (e.g. coordination board) with the question to use and test the portal and to provide us with all possible feedback. This will enable us to improve the portal and its functionalities in the future.

Sixth Report

There were no major technical developments. At the moment the portal is in its testing phase. A few internal tests were made and comments that were given during the biological data products workshop and during the presentation at the Copenhagen meeting were listed and will be analysed for implementation in the update phase

Fifth Report

A website containing information on the Biological project, all documents, information on workshops, project partners and a link to the Biological Data and Metadata Portal is launched at http://bio.emodnet.eu The recommended EMODNet styles and templates were used.

Third Report

Much effort has been spent the last months in organising the Biological Data Products Workshop. This workshop will take place 25-26 of February in Ostend and will 1) discuss the marine biological (monitoring) data availability and gaps in Europe and 2) define a set of derived data products relevant for private bodies, public authorities and researchers. The workshop will focus on various species groups (phyto‐and zooplankton, benthos, macroalgae, higher plants, seabirds, marine mammals and sea turtles). The preparatory action covers the Greater North Sea (including the English Channel and Skagerrak‐Kattegat), the Bay of Biscay and the Iberian Coast. This workshop will result in a set of key‐recommendations that will be implemented in the further development of the preparatory action for biological data.Based on the identification of relevant data products, targeted data analysis workshops will be organised in the near future.

Technical development of EMODNET Portal is in progress. A first prototype will be presented and discussed during the Data Products Workshop.

Second Report

Finalization outline of the technical functionalities of the EMODNET Bio Portal. Start technical development of EMODNET, GAP-analysis, Contact/progress of different data providers Integration of European iOBIS (Ocean Biogeographic Data System) data into EurOBIS.

First Report

First Draft of European Biological data-inventory (based on EurOBIS and MarBEF datasets) and starting GAP analysis of EurOBIS)
