About the Forum

The Ocean Energy Forum was created by the European Commission in 2014. It provides a meeting place industry, the public sector and NGOs to discuss how to overcome the challenges to the development of the ocean energy sector by providing solutions (key recommendations) to help it on the path to full‑scale commercialisation.

The Forum consists of three work-stream Steering Committees allowing discussion at topic level - Finance, Technology and Environment & Consenting. The Forum is supported by a Secretariat.

The work of the Forum will result in the production of a Strategic Roadmap, building on European leadership in ocean energy to develop technology for Europe’s power demand over the next 35 years. The Draft Strategic Roadmap was published in October 2015 with the final Roadmap due to be presented early November 2016.
