report

The issue of marine litter is an increasing problem for coastal communities throughout the world.

KIMO’s Fishing For Litter project has clearly demonstrated how stakeholders, nongovernmental organisations, local government, harbour authorities and the fishing industry can unite to be part of the solution.

Since the launch of Fishing For Litter South West in March 2009, The Cornish Fish Producers Organisation and its members have been keen to get involved. Fishing For Litter has provided an easy and measureable way to demonstrate how fishermen, as custodians of the marine environment, can improve the quality of Europe's waters, bolstering the financial foundation of the fishing industry whilst benefiting the marine environment.
