Co-designing EU4Ocean Platform September event

EU4Ocean workshops: Designing Ocean Literacy action in Europe

24-25 September 2020

This discussion thread is to update Platform members about the current planning for the September EU4Ocean online event and seek your ideas and input to the Platform workshop, to be held on 24 September AM CEST. Further discussion threads will follow. In the meantime, if you have TOPIC-related ideas, please see the Discussion threads on Climate-Ocean; Food from the Ocean and Healthy and Clean Ocean.

Over 2 days the EU4Ocean September events aim to:

  1. Present the ambition, organisation, process and tools put in place for supporting collective action for each of the three communities of the EU4Ocean coalition;
  2. Build momentum to the design and implementation of collective OL actions - at the EU and at the regional sea basin scales on the main priority themes of the EU4Ocean coalition (Climate and Ocean, Food from the Ocean, and Healthy and Clean Ocean)

The event builds on the following three principles:

  • Co-built – associating founding members and key stakeholders of the three communities into the organisation of the different building blocks of event, so as to illustrate the spirit of the EU4Ocean coalition – and also taking the ideas and contributions on “possible collective actions” made by participants to the first day in the working discussions on “’making collective actions operational” facilitated during the second day
  • Interactive – ensuring the operational launching is a time for discussions, exchanges and collective work – limiting presentations (PPT, videos) from high-level speakers and on past and current experiences and giving space for interactive collective working in coherence with the ambition of the coalition
  • Action-oriented– so key components of future collective actions and of forthcoming advocacy campaigns in particularly (in terms of focus, partners involved, road map…) are set building on preparatory activities carried out in close collaboration with founding members and key stakeholders of the three communities
