From our ever-growing community to groundbreaking projects and initiatives, we are immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished together this year.
Our community reached a significant milestone in 2024 – growing to nearly 1,000 members, each playing a vital role in advancing Europe’s algae sector. Your dedication, creativity, and passion for algae innovation have been the driving force behind our collective success.
This year saw remarkable strides in algae awareness and acceptance, showcased by initiatives such as the EU4Algae Social Media Consumer's Campaign and the EU4Algae Interactive Platform. We’ve also witnessed incredible innovation through standout Working Group meetings and events, such as the BlueInvest x EU4Algae Online E-Pitching, the EU4Algae Online Info Session on Governance, Research, Business, and Awareness, and the EU4Algae Annual Meeting 2024 in Athens bringing together key stakeholders, project partners, and industry leaders across Europe’s algae sector to drive collaboration and the sector forward.

- Newsletters: Two editions (June & November) packed with insights and opportunities shaping the algae sector. Not subscribed yet? Sign up here!
- Insider’s Perspectives: 13 features spotlighting projects and innovators such as BioAtlantis, Nordic SeaFarm, PureRaw, and more.
- Interview Spotlights: Five inspiring interviews with pioneers Xulia Pisón, Aitana Espirulina’s Inés Carballo Tomé, Thomas Swierts, and Vyld’s Ines Schiller and Melanie Schichan, and Zeefier's Bianca Zomer.
- EU4Algae Outcome: A “Summary Report on Overview of Education, Youth & Business Support for the European Algae Sector: Boosting innovation and knowledge”, providing a foundation for innovation and growth.
- Resources: Creation of the EU4Algae Project Database (AirTable) designed to catalogue EU projects related to algae (800+ entries), and the new Licensing Toolkit for Sweden.
- Highlight Stories: Featuring BettaF!sh's participation in the FunSea project.
Moreover, the Knowledge Library and Algae Business Corner were regularly updated to deliver relevant, actionable resources for our members and the wider algae community.
As we look ahead to 2025, we are excited to build on this momentum. From new collaborations and funding opportunities to expanding our platforms, EU4Algae remains committed to fostering a sustainable and thriving algae ecosystem. We can’t wait to see how you’ll contribute to shaping the future of this vital sector.
