On 14–17 January 2026, the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) will take place in Berlin, Germany, focusing on the water theme. The GFFA is a global conference dedicated to shaping the future of food and agriculture, bringing together experts, politicians, scientists, businesses, and civil society to develop innovative solutions for future food security.

The event’s political highlight is the world’s largest informal conference of agriculture ministers, which fosters international cooperation and joint discussions on global agri-food policy.

Since its launch in 2009, the GFFA has been held annually in Berlin alongside the Grüne Woche trade fair. Over the years, it has become a key platform for networking and dialogue, providing important momentum for the evolution of global food and agriculture strategies. Each year, approximately 20 public events attract up to 2,000 international participants from politics, civil society, industry, and the scientific community.

In 2026, discussions will centre around four key topics related to water:

  1. Using water sustainably
  2. Strengthening the blue bioeconomy
  3. Finding constructive solutions to competing uses
  4. Strengthening international water governance
