SYKE Marine Research Centre (MRC) is responsible for monitoring the status of the Baltic Sea for Finnish Government. SYKE-MRC is the main research unit that carries out scientific marine environmental research in Finland. SYKE-MRC compiles Finland’s assessments on environmental status of marine environment forthe use of policy and decision makers. SYKE-MRC coordinates the consortium of Finnish Marine Infrastructure, FINMARI. SYKE-MRC hosts the Finnish marine monitoring data bases, runs the Finnish Research Vessel Aranda and the Marine Ecology Research Laboratory. SYKE-MRC interacts and communicates about research results to wide public, stakeholders, schools, policy makers and private sector in different formats. MarineFinland.Fi portal, that compiles marine information and data of Finnish marine research organizations, was opened in spring 2020.
