I am an ocean enthusiast from the north of Germany with a deep fascination for the marine environment, passion for any water related activities and the urge to protect marine life and advocate for fair and safe prosperity of coastal communities, without exploiting our planet and degrading its ecosystems.
Throughout my bachelors in sports management and my masters in water and coastal management I have focused on maritime topics and challenges from many different perspectives. From water sports and lifeguarding over tourism and shipping to marine pollution, environmental and marine spatial planning to integrated coastal zone management and flood risk management. You see the ocean has been a constant throughout.
Over the last few years I came to put a focus on climate change adaptation and the interface between the conservation of coastal ecosystems and disaster risk management. I worked at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in a project for marine biodiversity in the context of international cooperation and am currently employed as a research associate in the project METAscales at the University of Hamburg, that aims to increase community resilience in the light of marine extremes. Simultaneously I have been engaged in the Eurocean's Youth network by the Surfrider Foudation as a maritime ambassador.
