In 1999, I founded the Ecomar Foundation with a pledge to repay the sea for all it gave me during my sports career as a sailor. As a two-time Olympic champion, I felt compelled to return to the sea what it had given me. Our mission, right from the start, has been environmental care through sport, primarily focusing on the youth. Along with a dedicated group of nature advocates, I established the Ecomar Foundation on March 3, 1999.
