EU4Ocean at ECSA 61

ECSA 61 workshops intended to frame intergenerational cooperation as reciprocal capacity sharing, strengthening both emerging professionals and the institutions and science-policy systems in which they participate.

The EU4Ocean Coalition and the Youth4Ocean Forum in particular took part in the "The future of coastal and estuarine biodiversity science-policy: intergenerational perspectives" workshop on 24 August 2026. We focused on the practical experience of our Forum members, drawing on Youth4Ocean’s membership and engagement pathways and the Youth Policy Dialogues. 

We highlighted what we have learned about scaling up youth participation to meaningful intergenerational cooperation in the management of coasts. It was a great opportunity to also showcase how younger people can move from joining a community towards more active participation and direct engagement with EU ocean-policy processes.
