Clustering and synergies project kicks off

Calls for proposals launched by the European Commission under the EMFF, follow either a top down approach to investigate or solve a specific problem (i.e. the recyclability of fishing gear, support to the implementation of the Maritime Spatial Planning Directive) or follow a bottom up approach aiming to kick-start new ideas to support the goals of the maritime policy. The latter have been increasing in numbers as of 2016 where beneficiaries could submit proposals alone or in consortia. Evaluating insights from their results will increase their impact, enable a wider audience (businesses, local stakeholders, education bodies, public authorities) to be reached, and contribute to draw lessons in order to adjust, if necessary, and better frame future calls for proposals
