Description
The advanced training course organized by the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics - OGS will take place in Trieste, Italy, on 2-8 July 2022. Before the start of courses, participants of the Summer School will take part in a networking event, with interactive activities. Moreover, they will attend a distinguished lecture, open to the public, on the topics of the Sustainable Blue Economy.
The goal of the Summer School is to train promising talents operating in the marine and maritime sectors and to foster networks and partnerships that can help to scale-up activities in support of sustainable blue economy, including research, entrepreneurial and communication actions.
Participants will have the opportunity to attend lectures on the Sustainable Blue Economy, including on topics such as climate change, seabed, fisheries and maritime spatial planning. This year, the Summer School will focus in particular on the themes related to Copernicus Marine Services and its applications, and specifically: data acquisition and processes; models development; decision making based on data and models. The Copernicus Marine Service can also be used to develop Ocean Literacy and educational tools to raise awareness on the many challenges facing the Ocean.
The Summer School targets postgraduate students of any discipline related to the Blue Economy, especially from the Euro-Mediterranean countries and Central European Initiative member states. Tuition fees, travel and accommodation costs will be fully covered for the 25 selected participants.
