To highlight the remarkable progress made between 2022 and 2024, EU4Algae continues to serve as a key resource, bringing together the latest breakthroughs, events, and insights for stakeholders committed to advancing algae-based solutions. Over these years, the initiative fostered collaboration, knowledge sharing, and visibility for the European algae sector, driving meaningful engagement and innovation.
Strengthening Stakeholder Engagement
With three successful Annual Meetings – Rome (2022), Prague (2023), and Athens (2024) – EU4Algae has provided a vital forum for stakeholders to exchange insights and shape the future of the sector. The initiative has grown into a dynamic community of nearly 1,000 members from Europe and beyond, reinforcing its role as a vital resource for algae-related advancements.
Expanding Visibility and Connections
EU4Algae has contributed to sector awareness through Working Group meetings and key events, including:
- 1st EU Algae Awareness Summit
- Online Info Sessions
- BlueInvest e-Pitching Sessions
- Targeted Communication Campaigns
These efforts have driven engagement, encouraged investments, and strengthened support, ensuring greater recognition for the sector.
Impact of Working Groups
Seven dedicated Working Groups have focused on key areas such as macroalgae and microalgae production, food and feed applications, bioremediation, and youth entrepreneurship. Their efforts have driven innovation and fostered sector-wide collaboration.
Knowledge Sharing and Resources
EU4Algae has delivered an extensive collection of 100+ publications on the EU4Algae Maritime Forum website, covering interview series, event recaps, Working Group outputs, and more.

Consumer Awareness and Social Media Campaigns
In May 2024, EU4Algae launched a Social Media Consumer Campaign across DG MARE and CINEA’s social media channels, promoting the benefits of algae. The campaign results were summarised in the EU4Algae Social Media Consumer’s Campaign Recap: Cook, Share, Inspire – Discovering the Power of Algae article.
Other efforts to enhance algae awareness and acceptance included the EU4Algae Interactive Platform, fostering engagement and accessibility within the sector.
