In our fourth episode, we will go to Spain to talk to María del Carmen García-Martínez, who is a researcher and director of the Spanish Oceanography Institute in Malaga. Among her many commitments, María Carmen is involved in Océanicas, a project that visualises the role of women in oceanography.
Pursuing a career in science can still pose many challenges to women, but maybe even more so in a very masculinized territory such as the sea? María Carmen will explain to us the 'leaking pipeline' problem, sexual harassment on the sea and what needs to be changed in marine science to achieve real gender equality.

Las mujeres todavía tienen que afrontar muchos retos cuándo optan por realizar una carrera en ciencias, pero ¿ocurre lo mismo en las ciencias marinas?. Escúchanos para conocer más sobre el rol de la mujer en las ciencias marinas, empoderamiento y carreras azules.
En nuestro cuarto episodio iremos a España para hablar con María del Carmen García Martínez, investigadora y directora de la sede de Málaga del Instituto Español de Oceanografía. Entre sus muchas tareas, María del Carmen está vinculada a Oceánicas, un proyecto para visualizar el papel de la mujer en la oceanografía.
Desarrollar una carrera en el ámbito científico implica un gran número de retos para una mujer, pero ¿podrían ser más en un ámbito tan masculinizado como el marino? Maria del Carmen nos explicará que es el problema de la tubería que gotea, acoso sexual en el mar y que se necesita cambiar para conseguir la igualdad de géneros.

Durante el recorrido, descubriremos como María del Carmen comenzó su carrera en las ciencias marinas, cómo se trasladó del Atlántico al Mediterráneo, sus amenazas debido a la actividad humana y su conexión personal con este mar.
