Fukushima - impact on marine environment - outcome of second EU-Japan meeting

The meeting was a follow up to one held a year previously. The objective was to take stock of radioactive contamination in waters and marine life in the Pacific following the meltdown of the reactors at Fukushima and, in the light of new measurements and insights, to reassess measures taken to prevent contaminated marine life entering the food chain

Following last year's meeting to assess the contamination of seafood in the Pacific and the appropriate measures to check imports into the EU the European Commission hosted another meeting of experts. It tool stock of the situation in the light of further measurements and analyses.

ACFA'S RESOLUTION ON HARMONISATION IN TERMINOLOGY

ACFA has adopted a Resolution on harmonisation in terminology at its Plenary meeting of 1/7/2010. In this Resolution, ACFA askes that the terminology uses in the Commission's future legal texts to be coherent, clear to understand and unambiguous.

SEMINAR ON PRICE FORMATION AND MARKETING OF FISHERIES AND AQUACULTURE PRODUCTS, BRUSSELS 10 DECEMBER 2010

  The Commission has organised a seminar with the purpose to gather operators from the fishing and aquaculture industry (from first sale to retail, including wholesalers, processors and distributors) and civil society in order to improve knowledge about costs and prices all along the supply chain.
